Three-Eight –noun
Class of 2010 from Riverside Secondary , consisting of 40 happy students led by 2 happy teachers. The 40 students aim for perfection and strive for excellence in every single piece of work accomplished. Even though at times the students love to make noise, the students are equally obedient as well.

A very good Sunday evening to my dear students of 3/8...

During R3 day yesterday, I witnessed the great passion and enthusiasm from everyone present - the ingredient to success that had gone missing since the Sports Carnival in Term 1. The smiles despite the sweat, the honest hard work you all put in despite obvious fatigue, the spirit of voluntarism when I had asked for some of you to stay behind a little longer... does make me wonder what if you could all channel such energies to your studies instead?

My first duty to the class is that of an AFT and it was indeed disturbing when your MYE results started filtering in to me. I do believe many of you are also very disappointed by your performance, perhaps even very discouraged... and for some, self-doubt will start to creep in...

But I urge you not to look back anymore. The passage of time is uni-directional and whatever that has happened should serve as a reminder to how we should move forward from here.

Look yourself in the eye and accept the responsibility for having done badly this time round. Give no excuses, such as 'I am born stupid' or 'I studied very hard already!'...

Nobody is born knowing Logarithms, Chemical Equations or the implications of Electronic Road Pricing on society.

How well we do in examinations is dependent on how intently we pay attention in class, how mature we are in handling the various distractions in our lives and how much time we spend on our daily revisions and assignments... Do you honestly think you have done enough over the term to deserve better results?

My sincerest apologies for having let you down, my dears...
We have performed much below expectations for POA and I shall bear full responsibility for not having prepared you sufficiently for the exams...

Hello dearest 3/8 ~~
Well, as most of you know, the class outing is on 17th may, which is next monday.
And as majority of us voted, we're going to ECP for Bowling. :D
Reason being, the price there is the cheapest, and uhh, we can go cycling, or whatsoever there too. :)
So, yeah, we've decided to go there. :D
Remember to bring an extra set of clothes, unless you're going home to change, or you want to wear school uniform there. ._.
And, we'll meet @ 1215 hrs, at Boots and Shoes.
Please please be punctual, or we'll leave you there, and you have to come alone.
Tyvm and jiayou for POA ~~
-Kelicia. :D

Dearest students of 3/8,

I have booked the Multi-Purpose Room (the high tech classroom on level 3) for Thursday (2.45 - 5.00pm) and Friday (1.15 to 5.00pm) for you to use if you require a cosy place for examination revisions or if you need consultation over the few subjects that I can handle.

I have no problems in having students from other classes join in as well, as long as they are there for the purpose of revisions.

Finally, as to your queries about the one-liner in my previous post... don't bother too much about it until things are finalised k! Right now, your only goal should be to do your best and do yourselves proud!

Wishing you all the best!
Mr Eugene Lin

Dearest students of 3/8,

To help you with your Mid-Year Examination revisions, I will be conducting revision clinics whenever my schedule permits. Regardless of your race, language or religion, you may come for consultation on the following subjects :

1. POA (obviously!)
2. Additional Mathematics
3. Elementary Mathematics
4. Physics
5. Chemistry
6. Biology (I'll try my best!)

Even if you do not have any problems with the above subjects, you are welcome to drop by and enjoy the aircon (I'll try to block book the ITRRs whenever they are available).

Hopefully such arrangements will provide you with the best environment possible for your Mid-Year Exams, and that you will perform to the best of your abilities!

I will be available on Monday (3rd May) at RP library and on Tuesday (4th May) at ITRR1 (2.45pm to 5pm). Should anyone need to consult me on the above subjects, please drop me an SMS and let me know beforehand.

In addition, I will also be preparing a set of POA revision questions, so if you want more practice, do approach me as well!

Do enjoy the remaining bits of your Labour Day!

Your AFT (for at least till the end of Term 2)

Ladies and Gentlemen of 3/8,

The Term 1 report was released this morning... Mdm Shen and I have both discussed about it and I would like to see everyone after your supplementary lessons on Thursday, regardless of your CCA commitments. I'll write an explanatory note should anyone require.

Agenda :
1. Post-mortem of Term 1
2. Review of Class Committee
3. CD thru the Arts Competition

Can someone please update me ASAP (preferably via SMS) on what time your supplementary lesson is supposed to end on Thursday, so I can book an appropriate room?

Warmest Regards,
Mr Eugene Lim

Karthik and Fadhli - thanks for your enthusiasm in writing the script but a storyline has already been coined by Jiayi, and submitted to Ms Renuga for approval. Perhaps you can start writing the script on Thursday after I get clearance from Ms Renuga? Anyway whatever the storyline, there must be elements of RSpirit, NE and SEL Competencies...

Hail Princes and Princesses of 3/8!

I feel so proud to have witnessed such great character and strength in all of you during the Sports Carnival 2010! To have heard our class being called out as Champions in 4 different categories was something totally surreal... especially for the last 2 (Best Sportsmanship and Most United class - am I right?)!

Well done, the gentlemen of 3/8 for having won the Soccer and Basketball tournaments! I thought our soccer boys were brilliant in terms of teamwork and determination (which I hope you can transfer to your academic work)! Full marks to Fayyaz and Ilyas for their nerves of steel during the nerve-wrecking penalty shootout, Syazwi for his mesmerising runs down the right flank, and Keng Hao for his commitment in defending, and the others for your various supporting roles! (Sorry basketballers! I didn't witness you guys in action but I'm sure you were equally awesome! For your information 3/8, Kah Seng and George played their calf muscles out and ended up with cramps after everything!)

Despite winning the two games, my greatest pleasure today was to witness admirable resilience, class spirit and sportsmanship from all of you. Character is one thing I feel is more important than academic results! A couple of really notable characters today :

1. Kenghao and his Ultimate Frisbee team for not losing control of their emotions while playing with the hooligans from the Underworld. I had personally seen some of the opponents deliberately barging into Kenghao, but he did not react at all (ok, maybe he was too blur to realise) but continued on with his game. That was really exemplary to the RSpirit of professionalism!

2. Jason for his passion to win the Tug-of-War as he kept asking around to find out the best technique for the game. Although we didn't win that one, we definitely put up a good fight (and Kelicia is probably hobbling around Seoul, Korea now!).

3. Not forgetting our lovely princesses who belied their demure appearances and played like gladiators during the frisbee games (sadly I was involved in the only game we lost... >op). And for the support they all gave while our soccer team was slugging it out in the fields. No wonder Fayyaz was so charged up (despite an injured ankle)! And I'm sure we would have done well for Netball, if not for the rain...

All in all, it was an indeed victorious day for us, and we showed RS what we are capable of, if we put our hearts and hands together! I urge you all then to show the same commitment and unity then for our CD thru the Arts competition and give Jiayi and her team as much support as you all can! And also to Fayyaz so that we can start earning stars for Classroom cleanliness in March!

Cheers!
Mr Lim

im not sure if im allowed to post this online but if im not remove this for meeeee =]

for the cd thru the arts only about 11 people is needed in the skit. the rest who are not involved can help in the props cos theres quite a lot to do for the props.

I need about 5 guys and 6 girls or something like that, as long as there is one girl in the skit the rest of the actors' genders doesnt really matter.

we have this semi finals schedule after the holidays which is on.... 22 march. for our class the time is @ 4:05pm which means we have to stay back.

because of that we need to have a meeting during the holidays. since we have a maths supplementary on both thursdays and fridays, can you all just stay back for a while at least i let you all know what you all need to do.

display of team spirit is 10 marks and it's easy to get all 10. we just need the whole class' effort. like what mr lim said please do not depend on just the production team.

40-12=28

some of you can be costume designers/props-maker/logistics/music coordinator.

well if you all are interested in any of it please tell me or tag at the class blog (for those who cannot visit the class blog at least inform them about it or maybe i will speak to the class tomorrow, if i can .__.) if before the holidays you are not under one of the.... "category" yet i'll randomly assign you one.

for costume designers the people i/c are amos and akib.
props: shihui
logistics: zhongyou and colin
script writer: karthik, fadhli
music coordinator: fayyaz

i think thats all.............

Hello my dears!

The A.Maths paper today heralds in the final week of Term 1... and your deserved one week break is just around the corner!

The CD thru' the Arts competition is next on our radar... followed by the Sports Carnival. As you would have known from the CNY competitions, I want us to approach it with the intent of winning it, not just to make up numbers.

However, please do not misunderstand my intention. Personally I have nothing to gain whether or not 3/8 wins any competition. In fact, every competition you win probably would tear a hole in my pocket... (P.S. I will buy you guys a cake in commemoration of our CNY success next week ok?)

My purpose is to instil a winner's mentality in all of you and I believe that success breeds success. And when you all develop a habit of winning, you will naturally find added motivation to do well in your studies!

Jiayi, since you have the unfortunate task of being the executive producer, and since the deadline for proposal submission is 8 March, I would like an outline of it by Sunday (7 March). Possible??

As for scriptwriting, although the positions have been assigned to Fadhli and Karthik, if anyone of you has an idea of a story that can depict the RSpirit, NE messages and whatever is required, please put forward your ideas. This has to be a class effort, rather than that of the people in charge.

BUY ME A NETBOOK MR.LIMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!
CAUSE I WANT TO GO ONLINE AND I RAWKS :D
HAHA!

BUY ME ONE ON 1ST APRIL AND I'LL NOMINATE YOU AS THE BEST TEACHER DURING 1ST SEPTEMBER :B

-TANTAN (:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mr Lim's response :

Buying you a netbook on 1st April would make me the biggest joke in Riverside. And I don't care about whatever-teacher-nomination-crap actually... in my opinion, I have always been, am and will always be the BEST (in what? I really do not know...)!

Nevertheless I suggest you change your name to 'TAN-GU-GU', loosely translated into a local dialect as 'WAIT-LONG-LONG'.

Dear 3/8,

Please have a look at all 3 T-shirt designs and decide which you prefer.

DESIGN 1

DESIGN 2

DESIGN 3

Based on the initial Polaroid design decided by the class.
Added the names of 24 ladies and 16 gentlemen...

Self-explanatory... using the eight-ball from the game of pool
